Attacking Narcotic Abuse One Pill at a Time

It takes many small steps to finish a journey. This is obviously true in the fight against destructive and addictive drugs.

Bill Francis, reporting for WDRB News, highlights a Kentucky startup company whose product is another positive development in curbing narcotic abuse. The company is called PillGuard™, and they manufacture a handheld, programmable, tamper-proof pill dispenser.

Essentially, this device is part computer and part time-lock safe. For about $70, a patient is given the PillGuard™ by the pharmacist along with a PIN number. The pharmacist loads the correct dispensing and dosage information, and then the patient has a designated time window to retrieve the correct medications, one pill at a time.
Although this gadget can’t determine if the patient actually needs the drug, the right dose at the right time is one way to do better.

Call us. We can do better.
