If you follow Mixed Martial Arts (MMA), you are probably familiar with its exotic submission techniques. These include the “rear naked choke,” the “ground and pound,” and the “guillotine.” Many times an opponent will tap-out or give up after receiving one of these moves.

Kudos to the New Jersey Attorney General who is arranging for a former “disabled” firefighter to tap-out and forfeit $82,000 in fraudulent disability benefits. According to WorkersCompensation.com, this claimant was awarded total disability based largely on his statements to an independent doctor. Presumably, after his fire truck hit a pot hole, his back/neck pain resulted in permanent disability and his inability to work.

Unfortunately for him, YouTube never forgets. There was a video that surfaced of this claimant competing in a MMA tournament and obtaining a black belt in Jiu Jitsu. Thanks to this criminal investigation, this fraud may be over.

If your case managers and physician reviewers aren’t looking at the whole story, then you may be tapping-out and not even know it.
