Keep the “Whac-a-Mole” Hammer Handy

Using the “whac-a-mole” hammer may not be sophisticated, but when it comes to crushing illegal pill mills and shady narcotic dispensers, you get the message.

Unfortunately, rogue operators can be more nimble than state legislatures.

• In Texas, pill mills are rebranding as “Wellness Clinics” or “Diet Centers” to circumvent the laws.
• Pain mills are requiring their pain customers to bring friends with them to buy “other” drugs in order to get below percentage narcotic sales thresholds to eliminate reporting requirements.
• A new term has popped up — “Doing the Pharmacy Crawl”.  This involves criss crossing state or county lines and making numerous shopping stops to evade reporting.

Remain vigilant and keep your “Whac a Mole” hammer handy.
