KentuckyOne Calls Out Doris Day

“But never never on a Sunday, a Sunday, a Sunday, ‘cause that’s my day of rest.”

These lyrics, from the film Never on Sunday, won the Academy Award for Best Original Song in 1960. Since then, it has been covered by the likes of Bing Crosby, Andy Williams, Connie Francis, and of course Doris Day.

Now Jewish Hospital/KentuckyOne Health, in partnership with the Surgery on Sunday program, is providing free outpatient surgeries to low-income and uninsured patients. This program, as reported by Laura Unger in The Courier-Journal, is a way for physicians and clinical support to volunteer their skills to fill an important health care need.

Last week, on a Sunday, about a dozen patients were screened for colon cancer at the Jewish Outpatient Care Center Endoscopy Unit. All procedures were performed without charge.

We take our shots at hospitals/physicians from time to time, but when they step up to solve problems, they should be recognized.

Sorry Doris Day…sometimes it is on a Sunday.

Jewish Hospital/KentuckyOne Health is doing better.

Call us. We can do better.
