In real estate it’s “Location, Location, Location”. In controlling medical costs it’s, “Co-Morbid, Co-Morbid, Co-Morbid”!

15 years ago most hip and knee replacements were in the 65 plus age group. Just 7 years later there were 71% and 83% increases respectively in 45 to 65 year olds who had hip and knee replacements.

An additional study confirms that severely obese claimants have duration of benefits that are 5 to 6 times longer than non-obese claimants with similar injuries.

Both these facts are highlighted in a June 25, 2012 Business Insurance article, by Roberto Ceniceros, quoting studies recently released by NCCI and the California State Compensation Insurance Fund.

Unfortunately, there is no one easy answer to solving this problem.

At OMCA we have successfully addressed these complex and difficult cases for over 20 years.  Our model involves:

1)  Early Intervention,
2)  Aggressive RN case management,
3)  Specially selected/highly credentialed Physician Advisory Panel
4)  A team approach involving all stakeholders.

Call us, We can do better.
