Pikeville Pain Prescribers Penitentiary Payoff

If the alliteration in the headline doesn’t get your attention, maybe the facts in the FBI press release will!
Pike County, KY was recently rocked by the unsealing of five (5) criminal indictments charging 22 defendants, five (5) pain clinics and six (6) doctors with health care fraud, money laundering and various prescriptions drug offenses.
The most egregious counts are against a Texas doctor who:
- Prescribed 125,000 oxycodone pills in less than 5 years.
- Faxed orders, from Texas, for RXs to a Pikeville Pharmacy.
- Allowed patients to be “seen/treated via fax”.
According to the FBI these clinics and physicians are raking in millions of dollars in profits. Presumably, at the expense of wasted lives and devastated communities in eastern KY.
Kudos to the FBI and various Kentucky Law Enforcement Agencies. They are doing better.
