You Say Potato…I Say Potahto!

“Let’s Call the Whole Thing Off” has been covered by the likes of Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong and, of course, Fred Astaire in the 1937 film Shall We Dance.

Now try this one on for size — you say CHIAS, I say CHAOS. Unless you’re deep in the medical business, you may not know that CHIAS stands for Complete Hippocampal Ischemic Amnestic Syndrome, according to Kate Seamons writing in Newser.com, a relatively new reportable disease branded by Massachusetts public health officials.

CHIAS is a loss of memory, and its cause is believed to be a result of digested toxins that deprive the brain of oxygen. It is somewhat of a mystery, but for now the common thread is use of fentanyl/heroin/opioids.

You can call it CHIAS. I still call it CHAOS. And the fight to do better against these drugs continues.

Call us. We can do better.
